Man Chopped Off His Mom’s Head Then Took A Selfie And Uploaded It On Facebook

Bahsid McLean, 26, is from the Bronx. He is standing trial charged with murdering his mother, Tanya Byrd, 52, at their Morrisania apartment on 26 February 2013.

He dismembered his mother with a power saw and then took a selfie with her severed head and uploaded it to facebook. He allegedly killed her after the 52-year-old told him he was a bad father.

According to his defense lawyer, he was mentally ill at the time and didn't know right from wrong. She states that McLean is 'broken' and has had voices in his head since he was a child.

After he killed his mother by stabbing her, he bought a power saw and dismembered her. He scattered the parts around the neighborhood and reported to the police that his mom was missing.

Lynn Calvacca is McLean's lawyer. She held up a picture to the court, showing McLean smiling as he held up his mother's severed head.
'Does this look like someone who knows what he is doing is wrong?' That was herr opening statement at the trial in Bronx Supreme Court.

She also told the jurors that McLean was a 'broken' man, that he had been hearing voices since he was 10-years-old, and that for a great part of his life he had received treatment in mental hospitals. But his aunt, sister of his mother, said: "If he could do that to his own mother, imagine what he could do to a stranger. I don't hate him I pity him."

His mother's dismembered corpse was found in trash bags inside four different suitcases that had been dumped around the neighborhood. Police later saw the smiling selfie on McLean's phone.
He's still on trial.
